    THE WITCHER 3: WILD HUNT – CROSS-PLATFORM MOD SUPPORT

    As we celebrate the 10th anniversary of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, we’re excited to share some good news for our players and modders!

    Later this year, we will release one more patch for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. This update will introduce cross-platform mod support across PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X|S via mod.io. 

    Creating, sharing, and enjoying mods will be easier and more accessible, as players on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S will be able to share a modding ecosystem. 

    We have put together an FAQ to answer some of your burning questions:

     

    Uploading, sharing, and downloading mods via Cross-Platform Mod Support is available at no extra cost to those who own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt.

     

    Mods will be available on PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5.

     

    Cross-Platform Mod Support will be released in a game update released later this year.

     

    A tool that brings Cross-Platform Mod Support to PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5, mod.io provides an easy to use platform for downloading and uploading mods.

     

    You need to have a mod.io account and connect it to your CD PROJEKT RED account in order to access Cross-Platform Mod Support. A mod.io account can be created when you access the new in-game mod menu for the first time or visit the mod.io website. Mod creators can upload and manage their mods on the mod.io website.

     

    Yes, existing modding services can still be used, meaning players do not need to use mod.io to upload and download mods for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt. However, to access mods on consoles, mod.io is required.

     

    Many mods will be available across PC, Xbox Series X|S, and PlayStation 5. However, due to specific content guidelines and selection criteria for each platform, it may not be possible to bring every mod uploaded on PC to console. Mods available on mod.io must also adhere to our Fan Content Guidelines and CD PROJEKT RED User Agreement.

     

    REDkit gives mod creators access to the powerful tools used by CD PROJEKT RED when creating The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, and we therefore recommend it when creating mods. However, Cross-Platform Mod Support will support mods created in other ways too. That being said, any mods for consoles that use scripts must be created with REDkit. Other mods, for textures, bundles, and so on, do not need to be created with REDkit.

     

    PC users can download The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt REDkit to create mods, with detailed information available on the official website.

     

    No, while Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5 players can enjoy playing the myriad mods available through Cross-Platform Mod Support, mods must be created with a mod creator like The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt REDkit on PC.

     

    Mods can be shared by uploading them to The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Hub on the mod.io website.

     

    Mods created via REDkit have the best chance at being approved for Xbox Series X|S and PlayStation 5.
